Welcome to the 2009 East Africa trip info page!

If you have come to this page, you are probably considering a trip to East Africa with our Rotary team to assist in vaccinating the children against polio and other very worthwhile efforts.  Thank you for your interest!

This is NOT a tour or a vacation. The trip is taxing physically and emotionally.  We do believe that you will look back on it as one of the most rewarding times of your life.

You will be making a very real and positive difference in the lives of the wonderful people of Ethiopia, and they will have a very real and positive impact on your life!

This page will provided a brief outline of the fall 2009 trip to Ethiopia.  Complete information is available as of 9/13/2009 via the links below.

The Canadian Wheelchair Foundation (CWF) and Rotary clubs and districts have enjoyed a long standing partnership in their common mission of global service. CWF is in the process of coordinating wheelchair distribution programs with the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) and polio National Immunization Days (NIDs). Those suffering from polio and post-polio syndrome represent one of the largest CWF wheelchair recipient demographics. Through including wheelchairs in NIDs, we are able to bring the polio eradication initiative full circle by aiding those already victimized by its effects.

We can and will eradicate polio in our lifetime, but for some it is already too late.

To donate wheelchairs for Ethiopian NIDs in October 2009 to be personally delivered by Rotarians, please read the documents in the links below.

Here are the available documents in Microsoft Word format. You can click on any of them to open them on your computer. You can then choose "Save as..." in Word to save them on your computer.
